Privacy Policy
Last updated October 20, 2026
Unnma is operated by Unnma LLC (“we,” “us”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Unnma app collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Unnma, you agree to this policy.
Information you give us
Birth information. To compute your astrological chart and readings, we collect your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth (which we resolve to map coordinates and a time zone). Your birth information is sensitive personal information, and we treat it accordingly — it is encrypted when stored.
Account information. You sign in with Apple or Google. From that provider we receive a unique identifier for your account, your email address, and your display name if you choose to share it. We store your email address so we can identify your subscription with our billing provider and respond to your support requests. We do not collect or store your password.
Language and form of address. We store the language you choose for the app (currently English or Hindi), and your readings are written in that language. Because Hindi grammar changes with the gender of the person being addressed, when you use Unnma in Hindi we may ask how you would like to be addressed (masculine, feminine, or prefer not to say). Answering is optional, and you can change or clear your answer at any time in Settings. We use it only to choose the grammatical forms in your Hindi readings; it does not change the astrological interpretation of your chart.
Readings and activity. We store the readings, tarot draws, questions, follow-up questions, and the compatibility result generated for you, so you can return to them in the app.
Current city (optional). If the location suggested by your connection does not match your device’s time zone (for example, because you use a VPN), the app may ask which city you are in today. If you choose one, we look it up with our place-search provider and store the city’s name, its approximate map coordinates (rounded to about 10 kilometers), its time zone, and when you set it. We use it to time your daily reading and the hours on your Today tab, and to look up the weather forecast for your area, and only while your device stays in that city’s time zone. You can change or clear it at any time in Settings.
Google Calendar (optional)
Connecting your calendar. You can choose to connect your Google Calendar so that your daily reading can match the times of your next day’s events against that day’s astrological hours (for example, noting that a meeting falls in Rahu Kala). The calendar is never connected unless you turn it on, and Unnma works fully without it. If you connect it, we ask Google for read-only access to the events on the Google calendars you own, such as your main calendar. We do not ask for calendars you only subscribe to or that other people share with you, and we cannot create, change, or delete anything in your calendar. Once each evening, when your daily reading is prepared, we read your events for the next day and use only each event’s start and end time and whether you accepted it (so that events you declined are left out). Event titles are used only if you also turn on a separate setting that lets Unnma read them, which is off by default. We do not read event descriptions, locations, attachments, other attendees, or any other calendar details.
How we handle your calendar data. Your events are read at the time your reading is prepared, held in memory on our servers only for that step, and then discarded. We do not store your events in our database, and we do not record them in our logs. To write the reading, the event times (and titles, if you turned them on) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which keeps them for a limited time on its own systems, as described under “AI generation of readings” below. Your finished reading may mention a time from your calendar (and, if you turned titles on, an event’s title); that reading is saved with your other readings like any reading. We also keep a count of how many events you had on a given day, without their times or content, so later readings do not repeat themselves. To keep your calendar connected, we store a credential from Google (a refresh token), encrypted, along with the access you granted and your event-titles setting.
Disconnecting your calendar. You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time in Settings. When you do, we revoke Unnma’s access with Google and delete the stored credential. You can also remove Unnma’s access from your Google Account at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting your Unnma account disconnects your calendar in the same way, and also deletes your readings, including any that mention your events.
Limited Use. Unnma’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy (https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy), including the Limited Use requirements. The use of information received from Google Workspace scopes will adhere to the Google Workspace User Data and Developer Policy (https://developers.google.com/workspace/workspace-api-user-data-developer-policy), including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, we use your Google Calendar data, and the readings derived from it, only to provide the calendar feature of your readings described above. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending. We do not transfer it to anyone except as needed to provide that feature (to our AI provider, which processes it only to write your reading), for security purposes, or to comply with the law. We do not allow people to read it unless you give us permission to view specific data (for example, when you ask us for support), or unless it is needed for security purposes or to comply with the law. Neither we nor our AI provider use it to develop, improve, or train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
Information collected automatically
Device and notification data. If you enable notifications, we store a device push token and your device platform (iOS or Android) so we can deliver the notifications you asked for.
Time zone and approximate location. The app sends your device’s time zone with each request, and we store your current time zone with your account so your daily reading, notifications, and the hours on your Today tab follow your local day. Unnma never asks for location permission and does not use your device’s precise (GPS) location. Instead, when you use the app, our servers work out your approximate location (roughly the nearest city) in this order: a current city you have chosen; otherwise an estimate from the IP address of your connection, used only if it agrees with your device’s time zone; otherwise the main city of your time zone. The IP lookup uses a copy of the database kept on our own servers, so no outside service receives your IP address to locate you. We do not store or log your IP address for this purpose. IP geolocation by DB-IP (db-ip.com), licensed under CC BY 4.0.
Your last approximate location. Your daily reading is prepared in the evening, when you may not have the app open, so we remember the most recent approximate location worked out as described above: its map coordinates rounded to about 10 kilometers, its country, the time zone it was worked out under, whether it came from a city you chose, your connection, or your time zone, and when it was worked out. We keep only the latest one, replacing it each time, and we stop using it if your device’s time zone changes. We use it only to time your daily reading to your local day (for example, sunrise and the day’s hours) and to look up the weather forecast for your area. We never store your IP address with it.
Weather. To describe the weather where you are in your daily reading, our servers request a forecast from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway). We send only the rounded coordinates (about 10 kilometers), never your name, email address, account identifier, or IP address, and one forecast serves everyone in the same area. Weather data from MET Norway.
Usage and analytics data. We use analytics and performance-measurement tools — which may include Google Analytics and similar providers — to understand how the app is used and to improve it. These tools may collect information such as the screens you view and the actions you take in the app, your app version and settings, device and connection information (for example, device model, operating system, language, and IP address), general location derived from your IP address, and unique or device identifiers. We may add or change analytics and performance providers over time.
Diagnostics and crash data. We use a crash- and error-reporting service (such as Sentry) to detect, diagnose, and fix problems in the app. When the app encounters an error or crashes, this service collects diagnostic information such as the error and stack trace, your app version and settings, and device and operating-system information. We have configured this service not to collect personal information automatically, and we do not send your birth information to it.
Purchase data. If you subscribe or make a purchase, your payment is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play when you buy in our iOS or Android app, or by our payment processor, Stripe, when you buy on the web. We receive your subscription status and entitlements from our billing providers. For web purchases, we share your email address and an account identifier with Stripe so your purchase is linked to your Unnma account, and Stripe collects your payment details directly. We never receive or store your full payment card details. These providers keep their own records of your transactions under their own policies, including after you delete your Unnma account.
How we use your information
We use your information to: compute your chart and generate your readings in your chosen language and form of address; time your daily reading, notifications, and the hours on your Today tab (such as sunrise) to your local day and approximate location; describe your local weather in your daily reading; if you connect Google Calendar, match the times of your next day’s events against that day’s astrological hours; operate your account; provide and manage subscriptions and purchases; send notifications you have enabled; understand and improve how the app is used; respond to support requests; diagnose and fix crashes and errors; keep the service secure; and comply with law. We do not sell your personal information for money. Some analytics technologies may process usage data in ways that certain privacy laws (such as California’s) treat as a “sale” or “sharing”; where that applies, we provide the opt-out rights and controls those laws require (see “Your choices and rights” below).
AI generation of readings
Your readings are generated using a third-party artificial-intelligence service (Anthropic). To create a reading, we send the computed positions from your chart, the text of your question, your reading language, and, if you have provided it, your form-of-address preference to that service. For your daily reading, we also send a short description of the weather where you are and, if you have connected Google Calendar, the times of your next day’s events (and their titles, if you turned that on). Anthropic processes this information only to return your reading and does not use it to train its models. Anthropic keeps what we send and the reading it returns for a limited time and then deletes them: no more than 30 days, and up to 29 days for the daily readings we send to it together in a batch each evening. It may keep them longer only where needed to enforce its usage policies or to comply with the law. We do not send your name, email, or account login to the AI service.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers who help us operate the app, and only as needed for that purpose: Anthropic (generating readings); Google (sign-in; looking up your birth place and any current city you choose; and, if you connect Google Calendar, providing your calendar events to us) and Apple (sign-in); analytics and performance-measurement providers, such as Google Analytics (understanding and improving how the app is used); a crash- and error-reporting provider, such as Sentry (detecting, diagnosing, and fixing crashes and errors); our subscription provider RevenueCat together with the Apple App Store, Google Play, and our web payment processor Stripe (processing and validating purchases; we share your email address and display name with RevenueCat so your subscription is identifiable for billing and support, and we share your email address and an account identifier with Stripe for web purchases); push-notification delivery services (Apple, Google, and Expo); the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) (weather forecasts; it receives only rounded coordinates, never anything that identifies you); and our hosting and database providers (Fly.io, Neon, and Vercel), which necessarily receive your connection’s IP address when they carry your requests. We do not send your IP address to any outside service to locate you for the Today tab’s timings. These providers handle your information under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell your personal information for money.
Other people’s information
If you include another person’s details in a question or reading, please do so only with their permission. You are responsible for information about others that you choose to share with the app.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. A current city you choose is kept until you change or clear it, or delete your account. We keep only your most recent approximate location (rounded to about 10 kilometers), replacing it each time, until you delete your account; we do not keep the IP address of your connection. We never store your calendar events themselves; readings that mention them are kept like your other readings, along with the daily event count described above, and the Google Calendar credential is kept until you disconnect your calendar or delete your account. Our AI provider’s own limited retention is described under “AI generation of readings” above. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes your birth information, your language and form-of-address preferences, readings, tarot history, compatibility result, current city, last approximate location and time zone, Google Calendar connection, and device tokens, and revokes the sign-in grant and any Google Calendar access where applicable. Some records may persist briefly in routine backups before being overwritten.
Your choices and rights
You can review and delete your data using the in-app delete feature, turn notifications on or off, change your language, change or clear your form-of-address preference, change or clear your current city, and connect or disconnect Google Calendar and turn event titles on or off in Settings, and sign out at any time. You can limit analytics and ad-measurement identifiers in your device’s privacy settings; if we ever use technology that tracks you across other companies’ apps or websites, we will ask for your permission first as required by your device platform. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — such as the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing,” or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Security
We protect your information with encryption and access controls, including encryption of your birth information at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Unnma is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are under 18, you may use Unnma only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
Unnma is operated from the United States and your information is processed and stored on servers in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be reflected in the app.
